DESCRIPTION OF PROCEDURE

The 24 and 48 hour Holter Monitors are take home units that test the electrical rhythm of the heart in order to pinpoint crucial areas of irregularity in association with the patient’s symptoms. In real-time ECG monitoring enables the physician to isolate these areas and diagnose the problem through the statistical information on the recorded heart rhythms. The patient is responsible for informing of any symptoms of discomfort throughout the test, providing the time period in which these conditions arise.

PROCESS OUTLINE

  • Patient is given a monitor and diary sheet (except for ABPM) and instructed to record any symptoms they may experience during the monitoring period
  • 24/48 Holter Monitors must be returned once the allotted time has elapsed.

  • Transient Ischemia episodes
